Before launching a digital marketing campaign, or for that matter any marketing campaign or product line, it is essential to have a clear vision of exactly what you want to achieve. Once you have a clear vision of the campaign or product line it is equally important to be able to clearly articulate and communicate this vision to your development team. If the team doesn’t clearly understand the vision, the results will almost certainly be disappointing and the development time will likely take longer than expected.

Defining Your Product or Digital Marketing Campaign Vision

  1. Objective: define what the goal is, what you expect to achieve, and what success looks like.
  2. What: define what the product or service is.  It is important this is is very clear.
  3. Who: who is the target consumer, user, or audience.  This also must be very clear, much like a creative brief.
  4. Why:  what is the motivation or interest the consumers will have in this?  Why will they buy or use it?
  5. When: what is your development timeline? When will the project start, when is it expected to be complete?
  6. Metrics: how will you measure the results and track progress?
  7. Budget: what is the budget to make this vision a reality?
